Welcome to the Department of Public Health Sciences. Our mission is to prepare public health practitioners for the State of New Mexico, the region, and the country.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Public Health Sciences at NMSU. Our mission is to prepare public health practitioners to work in community settings across the State of New Mexico, the region, and the country.

I think you will find that we have outstanding faculty, friendly and professional staff, excellent facilities, and a tremendous legacy of preparing public health professionals and researchers.

We offer baccalaureate (BPH) and master’s (MPH) degrees in public health, as well as gradate certificate in public health.  Students in the MPH program specialize in either Community Health Education or Health Management and Policy.  Our Master’s programs are accredited by the Council for Education in Public Health (CEPH) and our Bachelor’s program has SOPHE/AAHE baccalaureate program approval (SABPAC).

The passing of the Affordable Care Act and implementation of Centennial Care in New Mexico has created a new era of opportunities for trained public health specialists.  Now is your chance to choose a course of study that will prepare you to make a difference in the lives of others in your communities or wherever you may travel.

Please feel free to stop by our offices at any time, or contact us by phone or e-mail.
