Welcome to the Department of Public Health Sciences. Our mission is to prepare public health practitioners for the State of New Mexico, the region, and the country.
I welcome each and every one of you with great delight to the Department of Public Health Sciences at NMSU. The mission of our department is to prepare Public Health practitioners to work in community settings across the state of New Mexico, as well as other areas within the United States.
Our department comprises of an outstanding faculty, friendly and professional staff who always have the interest of our students at heart. Through the handwork of our faculty, staff and students, we have been able to set a tremendous legacy of academic excellence that continues till today. Our department over the years have been recognized for its production of excellent Public Health professionals as well as researchers.
We offer Baccalaureate (BPH) and Master’s (MPH) degrees in Public Health, as well as graduate minors in US-Mexico Border Health, Gerontology and Public Health Certificate. Students in the MPH program specialize in either Health Behavior and Health Promotion or Health Administration and Policy. Our Bachelor’s and Master’s programs are accredited by the council for Education in Public Health (CEPH).
The passing of the Affordable Care Act and implementation of Centennial Care in New Mexico has created a new era of opportunities for trained Public Health specialists. Now is your chance to choose a course of study that will prepare you to make a difference in lives of others in your communities or wherever you may travel.
