Okhumode Yakubu leads initiative to use biodegradable food service products on campus

Okhumode Yakubu, MPH student, led an initiative to replace styrofoam with  bio-degradable products from campus food service areas. This student-led public health and environmental health initiative is important for sustainability and our health.  Styrene, a monomer of polystyrene (styrofoam), is considered a “reasonably anticipated carcinogen” by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Crimson Research Awarded by the Paso Del Norte Health Foundation
