Graduate Programs

The Department of Public Health Sciences offers two programs leading to the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree, a non-degree Graduate Certificate in Public Health, and a joint MPH/MSW dual degree program.

The Master of Public Health degrees include one with a concentration in Health Behavior and Health Promotion (HBHP) and one with a concentration in Health Management, Administration, and Policy (HMAP).

We deliver the HBHP degree program via traditional, on-campus format and online via distance education technology. We deliver the HMAP concentration via online format only. All students in our graduate degree programs are assigned a faculty advisor to assist them throughout their tenure in the program.

The Graduate Certificate in Public Health may be completed in an on-campus or online format

We have designed our graduate programs to accommodate working professionals. On-campus classes are scheduled in the evening hours, usually starting at 5:00 pm; online courses can be completed asynchronously, fitting any schedule.

Our faculty members are committed to providing excellent and innovative instruction both on-campus and online. MPH students master core competencies during the program providing a strong academic foundation for careers in public health or further graduate study. Our students become successful health professionals and leaders, often working with diverse populations.

We have a long history of providing excellent graduate education that is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Our graduate program began in the fall of 1996, received initial CEPH accreditation in 2000, and full accreditation in 2003. The program is currently accredited through 2025. We are also a member of the Association of Accredited Programs (AAPHP), and a member of the Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV) Fellows Program.
