Welcome New Faculty to Department of Public Health Sciences
Dr. England-Kennedy as assistant professor and Dr. Khubchandani as professor join our outstanding department in the NMSU College of Health and Social Services.
Dr. Elizabeth England-Kennedy received her doctoral degree in Medical Anthropology from the University of Arizona and her Master’s Degree in Public Health from New Mexico State University. Before returning to NMSU, she served as Assistant Professor at Rhode Island College for four academic years, and as Major Coordinator for the Community and Public Health Promotion major for one. Her professional specialties include the intersections of health and culture, health equity, social and environmental justice, behavioral health, suicide and suicidality, and homelessness.
Dr. Jagdish Khubchandani received his Doctorate in Medicine from India, MPH degree from Western Kentucky University, and PhD in Health Education and Epidemiology from the University of Toledo. Within the past decade he has coauthored more than 100 research articles in prestigious journals such as the Lancet, Nature, Journal of American Medical Association, and the New England Journal of Medicine with emphasis on global health, social epidemiology, and injury and violence prevention. More recently, his research has received widespread attention from prominent media outlets across the nation. Dr. Khubchandani serves on numerous editorial boards for journals in the field of medicine and public health and has also served as an elected Director of the World Association of Medical Editors.
