Dr. Shin received a Ph.D. degree in Administration-Health Services from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in December 2014. He also has two master’s degrees and a bachelor’s degree in the fields of Health Administration. Before joining NMSU, he served as Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) and taught undergraduate and graduate level courses in Health Policy and Administration. He has a specialty in strategic management of health services organizations. His research has mostly concerned the antecedents or consequences of hospitals’ decision making regarding the adoption of health information (IT) technology (e.g., electronic health records system), strategies of health IT management, health care payer-specific case mix (e.g., Medicare and Medicaid mix), and human resources (e.g., hospital pharmacists and nurses) management.
