Tamara Stimatze, PhD, MS, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences. She received her PhD from New Mexico State University in Spring 2020. She currently teaches Biostatistical Applications in Public Health as well as Biometrics and Health Research. Her research interest center on decreasing health disparities for LGBTQ+ community and increasing underrepresented groups participation and success in science, math, engineering, and technology education. She has participated in grant-funded research for the National Science Foundation, currently serves as the lead for NMSU Cancer Outreach Core, funded by the National Institute of Health. Tamara has a passion for education and the pursuit of new statistical techniques and methodologies to adequately address the research needs of the health and social sciences communities.
